Epidemic Sound Review: Music Library that Helped me Focus more on Painting

Epidemic Sound Landing Page

This is my review of Epidemic Sound after using it for around 6 months, and here is why I finally made the switch.

For a long time, one of the biggest creative bottleneck in my video production wasn’t the painting or the sketching, it was the music. Like many of you, I started with the YouTube Audio Library. It's free and accessible, but I quickly ran into a few major roadblocks:

Problem with the YouTube Audio Library:

  • Poor Searchability: Finding the perfect track often felt like searching for a needle in a haystack. The filtering options felt very basic, and I spent way too much time listening to tracks that weren't the right mood, genre, or BPM. Trying to find something specific for a time-lapse or a tutorial was a massive time consuming process.

  • Sounding Like Every Other Creator: Because the library is widely used and the quality tracks are hard to find, I started hearing the same few great songs pop up in countless other YouTubers' videos. I wanted my channel to have a unique, polished sound, and using music that everyone else had on repeat was definitely not the way to achieve that professional feel I was aiming for.

Why I Switched to Epidemic Sound:

Switching to a subscription service like Epidemic Sound was a game-changer. The difference in quality and, most importantly, the workflow efficiency, is night and day,

  • Truly High-Quality Songs:

Epidemic Sound works directly with professional artists and composers, and it shows. The tracks are studio-grade and sound incredibly polished. Whether I need a mellow Lo-Fi beat for a painting session or an epic score for a painting reveal, the music is consistently excellent. This instantly made my YouTube videos feel more premium.

  • A Search Engine That Works For You:

This is arguably the biggest benefit. You can filter by Genre, Mood, Theme, BPM, and more.

They also have curated playlists for popular creator needs like "Tutorials" or "Vlog" that make finding the perfect vibe a hassle free task.

Another cool feature is you can view the waveform of the music and play particular sections from it. I use this feature constantly, example when I am looking for track which slowly builds up or one which explodes right from the start, I can directly spot it visually instead of listening to one by one.

This kind of clean, intuitive search dramatically cuts down on production time.

  • Bringing My Sketches to Life with SFX

Beyond the main YouTube content, I also create animated short videos from my sketches, and this is where Epidemic Sound's vast sound effects (SFX) library really shines.

I can quickly find the perfect "whoosh" for objects moving, a "thud" for a landing, or subtle ambient noise of birds and forest. These SFX inject so much life and polish into my simple line-art animations, taking them from simple sketches to engaging shorts.

  • Simple Licensing

Once you subscribe, you don’t have to negotiate individual licenses or worry about copyright claims.

My current creator plan allows me one account per platform (youtube, instagram, facebook, website, etc) cleared for copyright claim. Check the details and offerings for the plan and select according to your need.

One thing to note, once you cancel your subscription, you're no longer covered for future use. So you can’t use music or SFX after unsubscribing.

The Best Part: Less Clicking, More Creating

Ultimately, the best value I've gotten from Epidemic Sound isn't just the audio quality, it’s the gift of time. It has significantly simplified the process of choosing music, meaning I spend less time agonizing over licensing and searching through libraries, and I can focus more on my core passion, the painting and the creative process itself.

If you’re a creator looking to upgrade your channel's audio and reclaim hours in your editing process, Epidemic Sound might be a worthwhile investment.
