Gamer who creates Art OR Artist who is into gaming?
Welcome to my blog, on all things related to art and gaming!
Hello! My name is Shreyas Pailkar and this is my first post ever as an Artist who is into gaming. Now this statement has answered the question in the title. but let me explain further.
Artist and Gamer
Am I a Gamer?.. Well, I have been gaming since I was a kid. From NES, PC, XBOX ( including multiple 360 units which would eventually turn into bricks with the dreaded RROD) and currently just sticking to PC gaming.
My favorite game has been Counter Strike, right from v1.6. I used to game on LAN everyday after college and eventually got better and better, winning multiple LAN tournaments in college fests. So, I would call myself more than just a casual gamer.
Artist? I was always into drawing as a kid. I grew up in the house of an artist. For my entire childhood I was surrounded by my father's paintings and art books. I picked up drawing at a young age mostly working with graphite pencil/charcoal, drawing fanart of comics and games I played.
So, yes I started as a gamer who was into art, but now as my interests and skills have grown in art, I am more of an artist who occasionally still continues gaming.

My Art Journey
Below are some of my old artworks from initial drawing days (please ignore the fancy watermarks)
I have experimented with various art mediums ranging from colored pencils, watercolors and finally fell in love with oil paints. I have experimented with digital art and its ease and turnaround time had tempted me go digital, but eventually I returned back to traditional medium. The tangible nature of traditional medium will always surpass digital.
As far as subjects are concerned, I have tried my hands on portraits, wildlife and now into urban landscapes which fits well with maps in counter strike. I specially like to observe and capture the interaction of light with objects, It is truly rewarding when you get the correct relationships between all the different tones in the painting.
What can you expect from this blog?
I will be using this blog to share my interests and inspirations, behind the scenes posts, updates on my upcoming work and my painting process.
Last year I started a series of paintings on Counter Strike and I would be continuing the series with more maps and art works. Â The larger paintings takes time to complete hence would be exploring some smaller art works as well. I will explore some other games now and then as well to experiment.
Below are paintings I did from counter strike series last year
